An Egyptian court has reportedly convicted a talk-show host of insulting President Mohamed Mursi, state media reports.

Tawfiq Okasha, who hosts a show on his own channel, is reportedly facing a four-month jail term, Reuters reports.

"Mursi is the president of all Egyptians and insulting him is like insulting the whole nation," Nasr El-Din Mahmoud Maghzay, the prosecutor in the case, told Reuters.

Okasha can appeal the sentence after posting $16.39 bail, a source told the news outlet.

The court blocked an attempt by the prosecution to have Okasha's channel taken off air.

The host also is accused of saying in one of his previous talk shows that Mursi and his group "deserve to get killed," according to Reuters.
