Police in Indonesia say gunmen have killed a police officer hours after security forces arrested a suspected militant.

Brig. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar said Friday that two men on motorbikes stormed a police post in Central Java's Solo town, shot an officer and fled.

Hours earlier a counter-terrorism unit had raided a house in Bandung in West Java province and arrested computer expert Maman Kurniawan, an alleged Muslim militant.

Amar says police suspect the attack and the raid are linked. They are also investigating two similar attacks in Solo, the hometown of radical Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir.

Two police officers were injured two weeks ago when gunmen fired at a police post. Three days later, an assailant threw a grenade at another post, injuring two more officers.
