Haiti's President Michel Martelly says he's feeling better during his recovery in Miami from a blood clot in his lung.

The 51-year-old leader looks cheerful while speaking on camera in a message posted Wednesday on YouTube. He says the complication could have cost his life, but God saved him.

Martelly says he will be ready to return to Haiti within 10 days but gives no other details about his return.

Martelly took a plane to Miami on April 16 after complaining of chest pains. The government said doctors diagnosed him with a blood clot that stemmed from an earlier operation on his right shoulder.

His office says the earlier surgery was needed because of pain to his arm from years of performing as a musician.
