The host of a popular TV program in Trinidad and Tobago has been charged with violating the Caribbean country's sexual offenses law after broadcasting images of a child being attacked.

Ian Alleyne, the host of TV6's "Crime Watch" show, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that he violated the Sexual Offenses Act and resisted arrest last week. He was granted $18,000 bail.

Caribbean Communications Network's TV6 also faces multiple charges for allowing the images to air.

Alleyne's show broadcast video showing a 13-year-old girl being sexually assaulted, drawing the ire of several community groups.

He has since apologized for showing the girl's face but says a suspect was only arrested after his show aired.

Alleyne and station managers are due back in court May 14.
