There was a time not too long ago when Mexican and American families could travel between Laredo and Nuevo Laredo without any worries.
Times have changed.
Approximately 35,000 people have died in drug-related violence in Mexico in the past five years.
Laredo is so desperate to improve their tarnished image, officials have actually considered a name change in an effort to distance themselves from their Mexican neighbor.
As Mileka Lincoln reports, officials believe the very namesake that once united two communities may now be dragging one of them down.
