Two earthquakes, one a 7.4-magnitude earthquake 25 miles (40 kilometers) under the water and off the coast of Miyagi prefecture, caused buildings as far away as Tokyo to shake for about a minute on Thursday.

The Japan meteorological agency issued a tsunami warning for a wave of up to 3 feet (one meter) for the northeastern coast of Japan. This is the same area ravaged by last month's tsunami. The quake that preceded last month's tsunami was a 9.0-magnitude.
