A 6.6 magnitude earthquake struck off the Pacific Coast of Panama on Sunday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey reports.

The epicenter was 230 miles south of David, Panama, at a depth of 6.0 miles. Based on the earthquake magnitude, location, and historic tsunami records, a tsunami is not expected, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

The quake was reported to have occurred at 6:45 p.m. local time. No reports of injuries or damage was immediately available.
