Vt. governor visits sites of Irene flood damage on 2-year anniversary; some still struggling

Dot's diner, a landmark in the southern Vermont town of Wilmington, was practically wiped out two years ago when Tropical Storm Irene poured down on interior New England.

The storm's massive flooding killed six people in Vermont and forever changed the landscape and the way people think about tropical storms.

Gov. Peter Shumlin will visit the eatery on Wednesday to celebrate the state's recovery after two years of struggle.

Shumlin says the anniversary is an opportunity to recognize the state's comeback and to remember those who have not yet made it. While Vermont is nearing the end of its official recovery, hundreds of people and businesses are still trying to return to normal and some are still looking for permanent housing.
