Attorney general says Pittsburgh police recruit on unpaid leave molested two 15-year-old girls

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

The state attorney general has charged a Pittsburgh police recruit already on unpaid leave with molesting two 15-year-old girls he met through a messaging app.

Twenty-three-year-old Cyrus Sukhadia (soo-KAY'-dee-ah) faces a Dec. 29 hearing on involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and other charges.

Sukhadia allegedly assaulted the girls during the summer of 2014, one of them in department store fitting rooms. Sukhadia was hired as a police recruit in March 2014.

He's been on unpaid leave since he was charged in October 2014 with allegedly threatening to take cocaine from police evidence and plant it on a college student unless she had sex with him. He faces trial on a witness intimidation charge next month.

Sukhadia's defense attorney didn't return a call Friday.

This story has been corrected to show that Sukhadia is on unpaid leave, not paid leave.
