New Fox News polls out today just a few days before the first GOP debate. Donald Trump finds his highest support yet getting 26% support. Those are the highest numbers for any Republican candidate since Fox began polling for the 2016 race. Jeb Bush gets a solid #2 with 15%. His numbers haven’t dropped even as Trump’s have risen. “Behind Trump and Bush, it’s Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker at 9 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson at 7 percent, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee at 6 percent each, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul at 5 percent a piece, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Ohio Gov. John Kasich get 3 percent each. That group is followed by businesswoman Carly Fiorina and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum tied at 2 percent, former Texas Gov. Rick Perry and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal tied at 1 percent and former New York Gov. George Pataki, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham and former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore receive less than 1 percent support.”
Kasich has an event today in Manchester, NH. Molly Line reporting on that and wrapping up a forum held with 14 of the candidates last night in New Hampshire.
Hillary Clinton remains the favorite among Democrats though her support has slipped. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders continues to gain support.
One major area for concern for the Hillary Clinton campaign should be her erosion of support among white women. A new WSJ/NBC poll shows her losing ground among that key voting block. 34% of white women saw her in a positive light, with 53% having a negative impression.
It’s President Obama’s birthday. He’s holding a meeting the U.N. Secretary at 11am.
The Senate is taking on President Obama’s new rules to curb greenhouse gasses. The strict new rules are being challenged in court and will also face Congressional scrutiny. A Senate Committee is holding a hearing, and there’s a Senate report out today at 12:15. Shannon Bream reporting.
There’s an arraignment this morning for a suspected terrorist. Ali Mohammed Brown is accused of murdering a 19-year-old New Jersey man who was chosen at random by Brown, a devout Muslim, in retaliation for U.S. foreign policy. Rick Leventhal reporting.
Today begins the third phase in the sentencing trial of James Holmes.. convicted of the Aurora movie massacre. Yesterday a jury ruled the death penalty remains on the table. Dan Springer reporting.
20 wildfires continue to rage in California. 24 homes have been destroyed, and another 6,000 structures are threatened. Claudia Cowan reporting.
An outbreak of Legionnaires’ disease in NYC has left 7 dead and 81 sickened.
Greek stocks down another 4% so far today. Banks there have lost 30% of their value since yesterday when the Greek stock market reopened after being closed for more than a month.

Secretary of State John Kerry is in Singapore pushing for a major Pacific Rim trade deal. He heads to Malaysia later today.
