A New York woman accused of killing her fiance during a kayak outing is due in court for a bail hearing.

Angelika (AN'-jehl-ee-kuh) Graswald has been jailed without bail since she was charged April 30 with murder in the death of 46-year-old Vincent Viafore.

Orange County prosecutors say the 35-year-old Graswald killed Viafore and falsely reported she was unable to save him after he capsized April 19.

Police say they believe the crime happened on scenic Bannerman Island, 50 miles north of New York City. Viafore's body hasn't been found.

Her lawyers are asking for bail in the absence of an indictment. Prosecutors haven't released details of why or how they believe Viafore was killed. They will have to make a case for holding her during a hearing Wednesday afternoon.
