A Northern California police officer shot a woman who allegedly stole a vehicle and rammed it into an undercover police car Wednesday.
The San Jose Mercury News reports San Leandro police tried to pull over the woman in Oakland, but she drove onto a sidewalk on a dead-end street and hit several parked cars before ramming the police car.
Officer Johanna Watson, an Oakland police spokeswoman, said that at least one officer opened fire and wounded the woman. Watson said the woman was shot more than once, but was conscious and talking as she was taken to the hospital.
Her condition was not immediately available.
Watson said a male passenger in the stolen car was detained and being questioned.
