Indianapolis police say 2 women, 3 children in serious condition after shooting at townhome

Published May 03, 2016

Associated Press

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says five people, including three children, are wounded after being shot inside a townhome on the city's northwest side.

Police responded to the shooting just before 9:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lt. Richard Riddle tells WISH-TV (http://bit.ly/1DQ3Tg1 ) that three male suspects were inside the home with the victims when the shooting occurred.

He says the victims were two women and three children, ages 6, 3 and 6 months, who were all related.

The TV station reports all five were hospitalized in serious condition. Police say one adult witness inside the home was not hit by gunfire.

Riddle says police believe the suspects knew the victims and were invited inside. It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the shooting.

No arrests have been made, and an investigation is ongoing.
