A former teenage worker at the clothing company American Apparel claims in a lawsuit that the company’s chief executive held her captive and forced her to perform sexual acts, the Los Angeles Times' reports.
Irene Morales, who was 18 at the time, claims in the lawsuit that Dov Charney invited her to his Manhattan apartment in April 2008. When she arrived, all he had on was underwear and made her perform oral sex, according to the report.
Charney then “dragged her into his bedroom and threw her on the bed, got on top of her and forced her to perform another act" of oral sex, the suit alleged according to the Los Angeles Times.
Charney allegedly made threats and told her that she would have to offer him sex if she wanted to make it in the company.
American Apparel said in a statement the teenager "left the company without complaint and resigned with a letter of gratitude regarding her positive experience at the company." Morales is seeking $250 million. The company, which was also named in the lawsuit, said it intended to file a counter-complaint.
"CEO Dov Charney's celebrity status in the fashion industry is being publicly exploited," the statement said.
This isn't the first time Charney has been accused of sexual harassment, but none of the past suits he has faced have gone to trial, according to the L.A. Times report.
