The Boeing 747, also known as the Queen of the Skies, is known for its massive frame and ability to fly long-haul service from places like Dallas to Sydney.

So you could imagine the surprise two weeks ago when passengers traveling from San Francisco to Los Angeles found out that they were taking the enormous plane. SFGate.com, citing a website, TravelSkills, reported.

The plane was filled with passengers who were displaced or otherwise delayed.

One passenger posted on Twitter at the time, "Bold move by United to fly a SFO -> LAX leg with a 747 from International Terminal."

Another wrote, "Flt to BUR from SFO cxled but now you're flying ustLAX in 747. Pretty cool consolation."
