GRETA VAN SUSTEREN, FOX NEWS HOST: Former New York congresswoman and co-chair with the Fiorina campaign, Nan Hayworth, goes ON THE RECORD.
Nice to talk to you.
NAN HAYWORTH, CARLY FIORINA CAMPAIGN CO-CHAIR/FORMER NEW YORK CONGRESSWOMAN: And with you, Greta. Thank you.
VAN SUSTEREN: So let's start first with the ladies of "The View," who I sort of tongue in cheek say the mean girls of "The View."
What did you think about how they handled this confrontation with this presidential candidate?
Well, you know, Greta. They definitely have a point of view and it's the litany of the left as Carly said. And Carly countered that litany of the left, which is entirely focused on a single issue being gender with real substance, real grace and, of course, with good sense of humor as well.
And Carly Fiorina represents, in fact, a serious, substantive discussion of the issue. She is not about answering a litany with anything less than full grace and substance.
VAN SUSTEREN: Are you saying that these women are not sort of equal opportunity insulters. I don't think, I don't think it's comedians. I know -- I haven't -- the joke about -- have heard the one about the demented face, you know, it doesn't bring, you know, the crowd laughing.
But do you think that they are equal opportunity insulters, or do they only insult Republicans or even women, Republican women?
HAYWORTH: Yes, I think they take a special glee in insulting Republican women or conservative women. And as Carly said, you know, she is there to concentrate on what matters most to the people who need to hear from a leader and that is about the issues, about jobs, about health care, you know.
VAN SUSTEREN: Why do you think that they went after Donald Trump for insulting Carly Fiorina, yet they think that what they say about Carly Fiorina is somehow green lighted or funny?
HAYWORTH: Well, it seems to be something of a blind spot, no question. Look, you know, they have definitely a certain agenda. They have a certain slant. Carly recognized it. Carly countered it with grace and good humor. And I think she sounded very presidential today. Very ready to take on anyone who wants to talk with her and answer any question and be there to present substance and style and real grace.
VAN SUSTEREN: They say that they make fun of Hillary Clinton's pantsuits. I don't know if they make fun of Donald Trump's hair or somebody's tie. You know, is that sort of a good defense to them?
HAYWORTH: You know, it's certainly -- I mean, it seems very petty, let's face it, Greta, compared to what we actually have to tackle, exactly the things that Carly wants to talk about that I was, of course, you know - - that I was just mentioning, you know.
How are people going to survive in this economy? How are they going to find jobs? How are they going to have healthcare they can afford? How are they going to deal with ISIS as a nation? Carly Fiorina is ready as a leader to tackle those questions.
VAN SUSTEREN: And the fact is that Carly Fiorina -- basically, every woman, Democrat or Republican has heard dopey things said about them, which is a little bit surprising when the dopey things come from women themselves.
But, any way, we sort of -- I mean, I sort of hold the women to a higher standard, oops, my mistake this time. Anyway, thank you for joining us.
HAYWORTH: Thank you, Greta. Carly holding to that higher standard, too.
