And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...

Foot in Mouth

The head of the FBI is in some diplomatic hot water for his recent comments about the Holocaust.

James Comey told an audience at the U.S. Holocaust Museum -- quote -- "In their minds, the murderers and accomplices of Germany, and Poland, and Hungary, and so many, many other places didn't do something evil. They convinced themselves it was the right thing to do, the thing they had to do."

Well, Polish Leaders were not happy about being included in that list. The prime minister called the comments unacceptable.

The U.S. ambassador to Poland was summoned to a meeting with Polish leaders who demanded an apology.

The ambassador's response was quite clear. Quote -- "Nazi Germany alone bears responsibility."

The state department doubled down on walking the comments back.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MARIE HARF, STATE DEPARTMENT SPOKESPERSON: Director Comey certainly did not intend to suggest otherwise, did not intend to suggest that Poland was in some way responsible for the Holocaust.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

Harf would not, however, say if Comey should or would apologize.

Con Air

An inspector general's audit of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) prison transfer flights finds the department could save more than $41 million by filling up its planes.

ICE-Air transferred almost a million detainees over a three year period.

But the report recommends what airlines already know -- fill up the seats, drive down the costs.

ICE disagrees with using empty seats being a measure of efficiency.

It says delaying the removal of individuals could wind up costing more in the long run.

But, the agency says it will try to make sure its resources are effectively used.

Final Jab

Finally, one last political swipe from beyond the grave in a North Carolina man's obituary.

Quote -- "The family respectfully asks that you do not vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016. R.I.P. Grandaddy."

Relatives of 81-year-old Larry Upright say he was very passionate about politics. And while some would find it silly his son said it was a fitting tribute.

Quote -- "We know he's up there giggling right now."
