Let's all go "Off the Record" for a minute. Today would be President Ronald Reagan's 104th birthday. So, I thought it would be fun to look back at some of his most memorable moments.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
RONALD REAGAN, FORMER UNITED STATES PRESIDENT: In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem. Government is the problem.
Behind me is a memorial that symbolizes the range of daggers that were thrust into the top of these cliffs and before me are the men who put them there. These are the boys of Puente ho.
Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.
(APPLAUSE)
I have spoken to the shining city all my political life. But I don't know if I ever quite communicated what I saw when I said it. But in my mind, it was a tall, proud city built on rocks stronger than oceans, wind- swept, God blessed and teaming with people of all kinds living in harmony and peace.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
Time flies, doesn't it? And one other thing: President Reagan sure loved America, didn't he? That's my "Off the Record" comment tonight.
