And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...
Memory Is a Strange Thing
What a difference six years makes.
Yesterday, Texas Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee gave an impassioned plea to her colleagues to vote against the resolution to sue President Obama.
She called the action a -- quote -- "veiled attempt for impeachment."
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
REP. SHEILA JACKSON LEE, D-TX: A historical fact that President Bush pushed this nation into a war that had little to do with apprehending terrorists. We did not seek an impeachment of President Bush, because, as an executive, he had his authority. President Obama has the authority.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
But, in 2008, Jackson Lee actually was a co-sponsor of House Resolution 1258 entitled -- quote -- "Impeaching George W. Bush, President of the United States, of High Crimes and Misdemeanors."
Her office tried to clarify today -- quote -- "Democrats never tried to impeach President Bush for his executive orders."
Footing the Bill
Anyone can edit Wikipedia, which is why it cannot always be trusted.
But is it sexist?
Some academics think so, and your government is putting up $200,000 of your money to find out why.
The studies will examine the perceived gender bias for content and contributors.
The grant award states -- quote -- "Underrepresentation of female scholars...reduces the quality and completeness of Wikipedia, imposing significant costs on the millions of readers who rely on it."
Critics call the grants a waste of taxpayer money.
Quote -- "Wikipedia's gender imbalance is a non-problem in search of a misguided solution."
Liquid Hot Magma
Finally tonight, the ultimate barbecue.
A chef joined forces with two professors who head Syracuse University's Lava project.
The mission was to cook the perfect steak using artificial lava.
The team told the Daily Mail they hoped the extremely high heat and no smoke would seal the meat very quickly with an even char.
The chef says it was the best steak he has ever had.
