Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...
Speaker Shuffle
Rutgers University is in more hot water over their commencement speaker.
As we reported yesterday, a former New Jersey governor replaced former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice after she withdrew following protests at Rutgers.
That was news to Former football player Eric LeGrand -- who tweeted -- quote "Rutgers offered me the commencement speech this weekend and I was going to accept but they decided to go other ways for political reasons"
LeGrand was paralyzed playing for the Scarlet Knights in 2010 and is set to graduate this year.
Late this afternoon, Rutgers released a statement saying the miscommunication has been resolved and LeGrand has agreed to be one of numerous speakers at the ceremony.
Meantime, Condoleezza Rice has received an invitation to speak at another university any time she wants.
Texas Tech's chancellor sent a letter to Rice -- quote -- "If a university attempts to stifle free speech, it is the greatest injustice for the market of free ideas."
Course Change
A California school district has canceled a controversial assignment following a slew of complaints and at least one death threat.
Why the outrage?
The assignment for a lesson on propaganda was as follows -- quote -- "Some people claim the Holocaust is not an actual event, but instead a propaganda tool...Write an argumentative essay...in which you explain whether or not you believe this was an actual event in history, or merely a political scheme."
The school superintendent is meeting with educators to ensure assignments like this one are taken out of the curriculum.
YouTube Confession
Finally, filming yourself driving is not too smart.
Posting that video on YouTube and calling it "Me Driving Like an Idiot," amounts to inviting police to knock on your door.
That's exactly what happened to a Florida teenager.
Local reports say, Robert Kelly was arrested and charged with crashing into multiple cars.
The police chief said he appreciated the teen making his job easier.
