RUSSELL BRAND, NEWSNIGHT, BBC: I think a socialist egalitarian system based on the massive redistribution of wealth, heavy taxation of corporations, and massive responsibility for energy companies and any companies exploiting the environment; I think they should taxed--
I think the very concept of profit should be hugely reduced. David Cameron says profit isn't a dirty word, well I say profit is a filthy word; because wherever there is profit there is also deficit.

Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader, D-NEV.: The only people who feel there shouldn't be more coming into the federal government from the rich people are the Republicans in the Congress...
Everybody else, including rich people are willing to pay more. They want to pay more.

One's a comic, the other's got to be a clown.
I guess I'm still trying to figure who is who.
And who is worse.
Russell Brand for railing against capitalism.
Or Harry Reid for railing against, well, capital.
Brand went on a tirade over the chasm between rich and poor.
Maybe he should just talk to Reid, who'll happily take all his dough and leave him poor.
Because what Reid is saying isn't all that different than what Brand is saying.
There's money out there. Go get it.
Government spending isn't the problem.
Not enough government spending that's the problem.
We're not taxing enough.
It's one thing for a comic to say that, maybe for effect.
It's quite another for a U.S. Senate Democratic leader to say that, because he could have a huge effect.
Yep even on rich guys like Brand, actually especially rich guys like Brand.
Then I wonder if this British comic would find this all so funny.
Because when it comes to squeezing still more from the rich.
Reid is deadly serious.
Just saying in a radio interview that not only do we need more taxes, everybody's willing to pay more taxes.
Reid's just the latest in a string of clowns, I mean politicians, saying there's no real need to cut spending.
Nancy Pelosi recently argued the cupboard is bare--there's no more stuff to cut.
I was waiting for the laugh track. But it never came. Because she and other prominent Democrats aren't joking.
In the face of a $17 trillion debt, they've all but said with a straight face, our spending work here is done.
It's time to tax more.
And spend more.
And tax some more.
And spend still more.
Little did Russell Brand know that his mindless musings on money in Britain were being acted out by politicians hoping to seize more money in the United States.
He might be careful biting the corporate hand that feeds him and glamorizes him.
Pretty soon that corporation will run out of dough.
Then let's see if Brand still draws the babes.
Or once penniless, he starts sounding more like a baby.
