NEIL CAVUTO, HOST OF "YOUR WORLD":Last night, you heard the vice president say this.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN: The middle class will make less and people making a million dollars or more will begin to contribute slightly more.
We can't afford $800 billion going to people making a minimum a million dollars. They do not need it, Martha.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CAVUTO: But what about all the times his boss said this?
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
PRESIDENT OBAMA: I am running to make sure that taxes are not raised by a single dime on your family's first $250,000 of income -- $250,000 -- $250,000 -- $250,000 of their income -- $250,000 -- $250,000 of any family's income.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
CAVUTO: All right, now I am confused -- $250,000 or $1 million? What is going on here.
To Mike Huckabee, who says the fuzzy numbers might be part of a political game for votes.
Governor, good to see you. What is really happening here?
MIKE HUCKABEE (R), FORMER ARKANSAS GOVERNOR: Facts, schmacks. Who cares, $250,000, $1 million? Inflation is tough.
No, this is the most amazing I have ever thing, people who will with a straight face just flat-out lie to us and tell us things that they have to know are not even close to true.
CAVUTO: But is there a strategy to it? In other words, if you are going to lift taxes on the $250,000-and-over crowd, if you frame it, we are only going after the $1 million crowd, even though you are going after the $250,000, it just sounds better? Or is that a new strategy?
HUCKABEE: Well, I think it always sound better, millionaires and billionaires and owners of private jets.
The irony is, the biggest I guess focus of Obama this past week has been on Big Bird. Big Bird is a millionaire Muppet. If you think about it, the merchandising of those characters makes $139 million a year, with a $455 million federal subsidy. So here is a bailout to a company that doesn't really need it, helping a millionaire who doesn't pay taxes because it is part of a nonprofit group.
It is a good gig. I think we need to be focused on that, because nothing is more important than a fictitious bird, right?
CAVUTO: Obviously, I -- I was thinking of -- not Big Bird. I think that was comical, what they were doing there.
But I thought, well, wait a minute, are they trying to frame this in a way that it is millionaires who are hitting, not people who are less than millionaires? Keep in mind the president and Governor Romney are going to be in Long Island next week, one of the most highly taxed regions in the country.
A lot of folks in that neck of the woods, $250,000 is not millionaire and billionaire territory. So, maybe this is part of a grander strategy. Or am I giving the vice president too much credit?
HUCKABEE: I think they may now try to change the numbers.
This is administration that has been utterly dishonest. Did you see what Joe Biden said about Catholics last night?
CAVUTO: Yes.
HUCKABEE: That was ridiculous.
CAVUTO: What do you make of that, by the way?
HUCKABEE: I don't know if he had a bump on the head or if he wasn't aware that Cardinal Dolan had had meetings with, supposedly, him and the president, got assurance that there would be an accommodation.
Then that was repealed and there was no accommodation. And that is why the Catholic Church, along with a lot of evangelical churches and institutions, are actually suing the federal government. On its face, that was ridiculous. It was really attacking the integrity of the Catholic Church to say, no, they are just making this stuff up.
No, they are not. They -- the -- the Catholic Church has nothing to gain by going and suing the federal government.
CAVUTO: What did you say; a nun should get a ruler to whack him across...
HUCKABEE: Well, actually, I thought you had two Catholic guys there doing the debate. Maybe a nun should have moderated and keep -- whenever they interrupt, just whack them. And that would have been the end of that.
CAVUTO: I know it all too well.
(LAUGHTER)
CAVUTO: Governor, thank you very much.
