DANA PERINO, CO-HOST: So what happens when you tell one lie, then you tell another and you get caught? Check this out.
(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)
SHEPARD SMITH, FOX NEWS: Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the congresswoman from Florida, criticized the Republican attacks on the president over Israel. She told a group of people at the DNC, quote, "We know and I've heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say that, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel."
Earlier today is, Ambassador Oren issued a statement denying he ever called the Republican policies harmful for Israel and that his nation has friends in both the United States political party.
As I mentioned, Debbie Wasserman Schultz is with us.
He says he didn't say that.
REP. DEBBIE WASSERMAN SCHULTZ, DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL COMMITTEE CHAIRWOMAN: And I didn't say he said that. Unfortunately, that comment was reported by conservative newspaper, not surprising that they would deliberately misquote me.
(END VIDEO CLIP)
PERINO: So, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz told Shepard Smith said that "The Washington Examiner" deliberately misquoted her. She said she never accused Israel's ambassador of calling Republicans dangerous to Israel. But then the original audio surfaced. Listen to this.
(BEGIN AUDIO CLIP)
WASSERMAN SCHULTZ: We know and I heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel.
(END AUDIO CLIP)
PERINO: All right. So I can understand how frustrating is it to be misquoted by any newspaper, conservative, liberal or otherwise. But when you are caught on tape like that, Greg, is it the right thing to do, not just apologize to the reporter, but to the ambassador himself who is trying to navigate very tricky waters and not make this political?
GREG GUTFELD, CO-HOST: No. I think she's exactly right. That's not exactly what she said.
That's what she would say.
I think she's -- that was amazing how --
PERINO: How can you just lie like that?
GUTFELD: I'm amaze -- there's also tells when you lie. You lie when generally when you look up. She can maintain pure eye contact when she is lying which is a great attribute when you are a liberal.
(LAUGHTER)
PERINO: Bob, doesn't it bother you?
BOB BECKEL, CO-HOST: Yes, it does bother me. And one of the things that bothers me more than any else is that in this day and age, any politician who think they're going to get away with anything, when they know that everything they say is being recorded. But it also seems to me, she should have recognized she said that. I can't imagine she forgot it. It was going to catch up with her.
The idea that somehow politicians convince themselves that things won't catch up with them.
PERINO: But she still, she is still saying it was a conservative newspaper that blew it out of proportion. But -- I don't know, maybe she is a better spokesperson than I ever was.
GUTFELD: Oh, don't say that, Dana.
ERIC BOLLING, CO-HOST: This is pathological.
PERINO: Right.
BOLLING: I mean, look what she's doing with this whole Jerusalem and God out of the platform, saying no it was a technical omission. We know it wasn't a technical omission. But she still stood by it.
In fact, Anderson Cooper, to his credit, said you are living in alternate universe if you think we're going to believe what you are saying.
She's got a pattern here going on. I think she's a detriment to Democratic Party and Obama in the next 60 days.
ANDREA TANTAROS, CO-HOST: She is their spokesperson really. She's the party's --
PERINO: Handpicked by President Obama.
TANTAROS: Handpicked by Obama. So, how can -- she has been out in front on a lot of issues. It hasn't just been her explaining this issue.
She's been out there on healthcare. She's been leading the charge on the war against women.
How are we to believe anything the woman says?
(CROSSTALK)
BECKEL: She's leading the war against women.
PERINO: Yes.
TANTAROS: She's all over networks leading this charge on the war on women.
BECKEL: Oh, the charge.
TANTAROS: And if Democrats are trying to distract from the economy at the convention they are doing an excellent job of it. This is gone not just to vague social issues but really disgusting.
PERINO: Greg and I, we are playing a little game like if we were at one of these Democratic conventions where you have to get your talking point, you find out the word association. So I say unemployment rate. You say --
GUTFELD: Hitler.
PERINO: Hitler or Nazis. The references are all throughout.
And yesterday, Dick Harpootlian, who is the state chairman of the Democratic National Committee in South Carolina said in a state newspaper basically that Nikki Haley was like Eva Braun. She was Hitler's girlfriend, mistress.
And then today he tried to say, OK, well, what I was doing is, I don't mean it. It meant to call her a Nazi. Anyway, it's just my syntax.
I have the same problem as President Obama.
I think South Carolina Jewish community probably came out and even said to him you need to back off. Nikki Haley is the first African- American woman to be governor any state.
BECKEL: Indian.
PERINO: Sorry. Indian-American woman. Obviously I got that wrong.
She spoke last week at the convention. Why would in the world would he think it's OK to say something like calling her Eva Braun?
GUTFELD: Two things. The left created the idea of hate speech because I think they've always been pretty good at it.
The other thing is I think we've invented a word called Harpootlian.
Just Harpootlian means you say something stupid and then you say something even dumber to get yourself out of it, you Harpootlian.
BOLLING: I thought that was a Biden.
BECKEL: I don't remember us having a long discussion when Paul Ryan gave his speech full of misstatements.
(CROSSTALK)
GUTFELD: He didn't call anybody Hitler.
BECKEL: You are right about that.
PERINO: Why did you bring up Paul Ryan?
We are talk about the fact that Democrats called Republicans of five times that I can count on this hand, because I have four fingers and a thumb -- referring to them as Nazis? Bob, that is so desperate.
BECKEL: I agree with -- let me just say -- Johnny Burden (ph0, who's an old friend of mine from California also made this reference. John is a recovering alcoholic and sometimes recovering alcoholics make really dumb statement. Witness me.
PERINO: That is not an excuse.
TANTAROS: No, no, because if a Republican would have done it, this would be a huge issue. This points to complete desperation on the part of Democrats. And one quick thing, you know, when there is real instances of anti-Semitism, this kind of stuff marginalizes that. When there's real instances like we saw last night on the floor of the Democratic convention.
(CROSSTALK)
BECKEL: Under three-hour marathon --
PERINO: Bob, you are cutting into your own time.
BECKEL: Sorry.
