Senate Majority leader Harry Reid claims to know why Governor Mitt Romney is refusing to release all his tax returns.

Reid tells the Huffington Post -- he got a call from a Bain Capital investor who said- quote

"Harry, he didn't pay any taxes for 10 years."

Reid would not give the tipster's name -- and admitted he cannot be certain the accusation is true.

Reid also invoked Romney’s late father-- George -- who released 12 years of returns when he ran for president.

"His poor father must be so embarrassed about his son."

"Using insults about a father-son relationship is a step too far."

The Romney camp responded-- "using insults about a father-son relationship is a step too far."

Green for the Gold

Speaking of taxes-- American athletes who win medals at the Olympics-- will have checks to write to Uncle Sam.

Prizes of $10,000 $15,000 and $25,000 accompany the bronze-- silver and gold respectively.

However the Olympians won't take all of that home.

Taxes owed on a bronze medal itself -- and the cash bonus -- amount to $3,500-- followed by $5,400 for silver-- and nearly $9,000 for gold.

Florida Senator Marco Rubio-- introduced The Olympic Tax Elimination Act today-- and says --

"Our tax code is a complicated and burdensome mess that too often punishes success, and the tax imposed on Olympic medal winners is a classic example of this madness."

Un-bear-able

And finally-- two generals in Belarus -- lost their jobs-- for allowing teddy bears in the country's air space.

A Swedish plane flew over the authoritarian state several weeks ago-- and dropped the stuffed animals-- carrying slogans supporting human rights.

The incident was denied until president Alexander Lukashenko-- also known as Europe's last dictator-- dropped the hammer on the generals.
