Some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:

Shot in the Dark

MSNBC host Chris Matthews has taken a shot at the Tea Party by way of the Chilean miner rescue. On his show "Hardball," Matthews characterized the Tea Party as "every man for himself... no more taxes, no more government, no more everything. No more safety net... You know these people, if they were every man for himself down in that mine they wouldn't have gotten out... They would have been killing each other after about two days."

HotAir.com posted today -- "This is one of those clips that's so immensely stupid, it's actually confounding. Where to begin?"

Won't Be Fooled Again

Joy Behar of Headline News and "The View," claims Minnesota Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann's opposition to expanding SCHIP -- a federal program for children's insurance -- makes her anti-children. Quote: "She is no mama grizzly. She is against children. Who is she fooling?"

Bachmann apparently is fooling Joy Behar. Bachmann has actually raised five children of her own, along with 23 foster kids.

You Can Relate to That

And finally, President Obama is said to be related to some of his biggest political foes. Yes, related.

The Associated Press reports that genealogists at Ancestry.com found the president is a 10th cousin to Sarah Palin; they are linked through a 17th Century Massachusetts settler. Rush Limbaugh said to be a 10th cousin with President Obama once removed.

The genealogists also found links between former President George W. Bush and both President Obama and Sarah Palin.
