And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:
Burn Notice
A New Jersey Transit worker who was fired for publicly burning pages of the Koran is getting his job back thanks in part to a Muslim group. The Star Ledger reports Derek Fenton will return to his $86,000 a year job. He will also get $25,000 for pain and suffering and back pay.
Fenton was protesting that proposed mosque near Ground Zero on last year's anniversary of the 9/11 attacks when he burned three pages of the Koran.
The ACLU filed suit on his behalf. And the Council on American Islamic Relations, while calling his actions reprehensible, said Fenton should keep his job.
The Transit authority agreed to the settlement.
Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
Updating a story in our Friday follow-up segment -- the Army has scrapped the idea of spending $600,000 of your money on artwork for a new federal building in Virginia that would have included the sculpture of a giant toad.
The display was to have featured a 10-foot high fairy riding the toad with sounds of nature emanating from the toad's throat. The proposal was dropped after widespread criticism.
U.S. News and World Report says the Army will go with a simple plan to dress things up near the building's bus stop.
Hunting Wabbits
And finally, Peter Cottontail better watch out this weekend. New Zealand's annual charity event -- we're not making this up -- the Great Easter Bunny Hunt will bring in 47 teams in an effort to kill as many rabbits as possible.
The furry friends are not native to the country and are blamed for destroying plants and pastures. Most years, 20,000 rabbits are killed during the competition.
Happy Easter!
