Former Vice President Dick Cheney tells NBC his new book will make heads explode in the nation's capital.
The New York Times got an advance copy of the memoir called "In My Time". Cheney describes urging then-President George W. Bush to bomb a suspected Syrian nuclear reactor site in June of 2007 but he was the lone voice inside the administration. Israel ended up bombing that site.
Cheney says he offered to resign several times ahead of the 2004 election but President Bush refused.
Cheney also had a resignation letter drafted in 2001 and kept in a safe in case he ever had debilitating health problems.
He writes he was unconscious for several weeks after heart surgery last year and remembers vivid dreams of living in an Italian villa and getting coffee and the morning paper.

The former vice president divulges a number of conflicts within the Bush administration, including feeling former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was naive in her efforts to forge a nuclear weapons agreement with North Korea.

Cheney may have had a tough time with Secretary Rice but Libya's self-proclaimed "mad dog of the Middle East" is certainly a fan of hers.
Reports from Tripoli say rebels have found a photo album inside Muammar Qaddafi's compound filled with images of Condoleezza Rice.
Qaddafi has spoken in glowing terms about her in the past, calling her "my darling" and "Leeza."
He even gave her a locket during a diplomatic visit in 2008 with a picture of himself inside.
Mystery Solved?
And we may have a lead, in the search for the correct spelling of Qaddafi's name. There are more than 100 different ways to spell his Arabic name.
Rebels have come across eldest son Mohammed Qaddafi's diplomatic passport, which uses one of the least common spellings: G-A-T-H-A-F-I."
However, we'll stick with our own spelling for now.
