And now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine...
Left Wanting
President Obama is taking serious fire from the left over a range of perceived inadequacies. Bill Maher asked on his cable show Friday if Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice for liberals in 2008, to which one guest quickly answered yes.
One of the Senate's most liberal members Vermont's Bernie Sanders has suggested a Democratic challenger could surface.
The New York Times is calling for a broader vision.
Former MSNBS < *typo* anchor Cenk Uygur writes -- quote -- "After yet another unconditional surrender in the debt ceiling talks, he's hit his tipping point."
And current MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews complains President Obama's handling of the debt debate was -- quote -- "being coy, cute, too clever by half by not laying out his plan."
Hot and Bothered
Climate activist and former Vice President Al Gore is calling some global warming deniers pseudo-scientsts, paid to disseminate mis-information.
Gore became emotional and profane at an Aspen Institute forum last week.

AL GORE, FORMER VICE PRESIDENT: Man-made CO2 doesn't trap heat. It's not -- It may be volcanoes.' Bull****! 'It may be sun spots.' Bull****! 'It's not getting warmer.' Bull****!... It's no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the g*****n word 'climate.'"

Out of the Office
European leaders aren't letting the prospect of economic disaster keep them from their summer vacations.
French President Nicolas Sarkozy is chilling by the Mediterranean. His prime minister is relaxing in Tuscany. Britain's chancellor is in California where he rode the Jurassic Park log flume at Universal Studios. The entire 15-member cabinet of debt-ridden Ireland has left Dublin.
However, as we've reported, British Prime Minister David Cameron did cut his vacation short to deal with the London riots.
