As you know, I am a simple man who tries to cut through the bull and get to the point. On Monday, massive demonstrations are planned throughout the USA. And despite propaganda that says otherwise, these rallies are all about one thing and one thing only — giving illegal immigrants amnesty.

Now if you believe the polls overwhelmingly, Americans oppose amnesty, like the one President Reagan provided in '86. As we know now, that amnesty solved nothing and led to the present chaos.

Senator Kennedy and other far left politicians know that, so they are trying to sell the civil rights card, vis-a-vis, illegal aliens. Again, bull.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

SEN. TED KENNEDY (D), MASSACHUSETTS: This is a moment of enormous importance for our country. Really the last great movement in our nation towards greater equality and fairness and justice was the Civil Rights movement in the `60s. And that — the echoes of that movement continue in our nation today.

Now all human beings should be treated with respect, but nobody's civil rights are being violated when the U.S. government secures its borders and demands accountability for breaking the law. And it is ironic that Senator Kennedy is almost single-handedly blocking a proposed new law that would help protect American children from predators. We talked about that last night. And I hope you've contacted the senator's office. You can go to billoreilly.com for information on that.

Now yesterday, the California State Senate approved a measure designed to encourage people to support Monday's pro-amnesty rally.

So my question is — who are these politicians looking out for? California's been devastated by the failure to secure the border. One politician estimates that L.A. County alone spends $750 million a year on aid to illegal immigrants. But in many in liberal circles, especially media ones, it is politically correct to sympathize with poor people trying to get a better life.

And you know what? I do sympathize with them. I always have. I admire people who work their butts off to feed their families, but the U.S. government and the Mexican government have refused to do right by these poor people.

Mexican powers are so corrupt, they can't sustain a decent economy. And the American powers are so afraid of big business and racial demagogues, they refuse to secure the border or enforce the law. Pitiful.

So on Monday, the amnesty people will be out in force, but millions of other Americans will be privately seething. For they know the truth — amnesty solves nothing. The chaos will continue.

And that's "The Memo."

The Most Ridiculous Item of the Day

A new version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" was released today [Friday, April 28]. It is sung in Spanish, and the lyrics are a bit different.

GRAPHIC: The day is breaking, do you see it? In the light of the dawn? What we so acclaimed at nightfall? Its stars, its stripes, flew yesterday."

But today, President Bush said this about that version.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

GEORGE W. BUSH, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES: I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English. And I think people who want to be citizens of this country ought to learn English, and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.

Ridiculous? How do you say, "You make the call," in Espanol?
