GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: Carlie Brucia's mother joins us now on the telephone from Sarasota, Florida. Welcome, Susan.
SUSAN SCHORPEN, MOTHER MISSING GIRL: Hi.
VAN SUSTEREN: Susan, obviously, an extremely tough time for you and the family. And the nation certainly wants your daughter to come home quickly. Have the police given you any sort of guidance about whether or not they might know where your daughter is?
SCHORPEN: Not at this time.
VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know...
SCHORPEN: We have no — we have no idea right now where she is. All I know right now is that he is in jail, and we're waiting for forensics to come back.
VAN SUSTEREN: Susan, do you know Joseph Smith?
VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know anything about him? Have the police told you anything about where he worked, if he worked, anything at all about him?
SCHORPEN: Yes, I know that he's a mechanic. I know he's in jail right now on possession and paraphernalia charge. I know he's got a criminal record. Look at that man. I'm just devastated.
VAN SUSTEREN: Susan, the night that your daughter was kidnapped, do you know whether or not Joseph Smith was known to be in that area Sunday night? Was he — I mean, it seems odd that a mechanic would be working in that area. Do you know why he was there?
SCHORPEN: I didn't know anything about no Joseph Smith. All I — you know, the night when she was kidnapped, I just knew my daughter was abducted until the bloodhounds came over to that area, and that's when they went bananas. And Mike — I believe his name is Mike, from the car wash — I mean, thank God that man had those motion cameras because if that — if he did not have those cameras and that information was not there, we would not be as far as we are right now in this investigation.
VAN SUSTEREN: Do you know where the police picked up Joseph Smith?
SCHORPEN: I believe he was arrested at work.
VAN SUSTEREN: In terms of your daughter, is she a pretty resourceful 11-year-old so that, you know, if she can get away, she'll make a phone call home?
SCHORPEN: Oh, yes. Carlie is extremely intelligent, bright child. I believe this man — I mean, she's caught off guard. You can see by her body reactions, she's angry. She does not want to go. I believe he threatened her. And I mean, if she has the opportunity to get away with from this man, she's going to do everything in her power. She's not a shy, passive little girl. I mean, if she gets the opportunity, you know, she's going to do everything she can. I mean, now that he's in jail, it's a race for time to find her.
VAN SUSTEREN: Susan, we've obviously put up a picture up of your daughter on the screen and a number, as well as the reward, in case anyone has seen her. Are there any identifying characteristics, or can you tell us her height and her weight, just by the off chance that someone might know something?
SCHORPEN: OK. She's approximately five feet tall. Don't pay attention to her hair right now. Her hair was cut shorter. But you know, from the time she's been abducted until now, we don't know what he could have done to her hair. He could have dyed her hair. He could have cut it short. Look at that face. I mean, she's got a beautiful face. She's got big, bright, blue eyes. She doesn't look like your average 11-year-old. She's built more like a 15-year-old. I mean, she's a really happy-go- lucky, loving person. And she needs to come home and she needs to be found.
VAN SUSTEREN: Susan, well, I certainly hope that she does come home very shortly. Best of luck to you. And of course, if any of the viewers know anything at all, they are to call that phone number on the screen. Thank you, Susan.
SCHORPEN: Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it..
