The U.K.’s National Health Service email server crashed after a test email was accidentally sent to all 1.2 million employees.
A “senior ICT delivery facilitator” sent the test email Monday morning, with the huge email trail grinding the server to a halt.
Doctors, nurses and other members of NHS staff took to social media to share their email pain.
Many NHS employees have taken to pointing the finger at Roslyn Learmond, who works at NHS South East CSU, for sending the initial email.
One person wrote: “Congratulations to Roslyn Learmond @ NHS South East CSU who has managed to expose a long list of idiots this morning. #nhsemail #replytoall”
The emails were sent to the 1.2 million NHS employees – with people replying all.

NHS has confirmed the email system slowed after a test email was sent out.

Another, Julie Taylor, wrote: “@RoslynLearmond you are really famous are you in a field today I don’t think somehow you will be able to respond to all the emails #nhsmail”
Neuroscientist Abigail tweeted: “Oh dear, someone has crashed our work emails by sending an email to everyone in the entire NHS directory.
“Good start to their Monday.”
NHS digital spokesperson told The Sun Online Monday: “Some users have experienced short delays in the NHS mail system this morning.”
“Action has been taken to resolve this issue.”
“A number of email accounts have been operating slower than normal due to a NHS mail user setting up an email distribution list which inadvertently included everyone on the NHS mail system.”
“As soon as we became aware of the issue we deleted the distribution list so that no one else could respond to it.”
“We anticipate the issue will be rectified very soon.”
