Amazon is making it easier for more online shoppers to "Pay with Amazon."

The company's Amazon Payments Partner Program will help e-commerce platform providers and developers add an Amazon payment option. The program is free and available by invitation in the U.S., Germany, United Kingdom, and Japan; early partners include ShopifyPrestaShop, and Japan's Future Shop.

"Our merchants want to offer their customers a payment solution that is trusted, easy and familiar," Brennan Loh, Director of Business Development at Shopify, said in a statement. "We're excited to be a Premier Partner in the Amazon Payments Partner Program, enabling our merchants to offer Pay with Amazon."

Amazon's program has three levels: Premier Partner, Certified Partner, and Certified Developer. They all come with different levels of support, depending on the merchant and its usage.

The benefit is that customers who shop on partner platforms can use Amazon payment information upon checkout rather than creating a new login for individual sites.

The Amazon Payments Partner Program is a shot over the bow at PayPal. For years, the company has been making it easier for merchants to integrate its PayPal payment button into their checkout process. The Amazon Payments Partner Program is an attempt for Amazon to attract more merchants to its own alternative.
