Microsoft has quickly and quietly released yet another Windows 10 build for Insider Preview members. Build 10162 goes out exclusively to Fast ring members who've opted to receive updates more quickly than the default Slow ring option. This build brings better reliability, performance, battery life, and compatibility than its predecessors, according to Blogging Windows, the official Microsoft Windows 10 blog.

"We're at the point in the development of Windows 10 where nearly every build is getting out to our internal rings and passing the criteria for release to Windows Insiders," writes Microsoft Insider chief Gabe Aul. "We're focused at this point on bug fixing and final polish, so it's much easier for each build to get all the way through than earlier in the cycle when we're adding big new features."

With build 10159 having released earlier this week, donning the new signature default wallpaper and new logon UI, Windows 10 build 10162 doesn't really bring much new to the table, but then again, it doesn't really have to. The more substantial features have already been added in prior amendments. Now, as we approach the final release of Windows 10, the refinements we're beginning to see are more marginal -- and are delivered more frequently at that.

Still, some users want even quicker releases. Microsoft is considering the request of many Insider Preview members that new updates be released daily for the operating system, but Aul stressed that builds need to be tested over the course of a few days. This is so prolonged processes, such as OneDrive sync, search indexing, and error reports can be taken care of without being interrupted by the launch of a new build.

With the long weekend ahead of us in the United States, Microsoft believes that by releasing a new build today, Insider Preview members will have more time to toy around with the latest improvements in order to provide the most comprehensive feedback possible. If all goes well for Fast ring users, build 10162 will make its way to the Slow ring, complete with corresponding ISO files, early next week.
