Duke University police say two officers were involved in a deadly shooting outside the school's hospital that left one person dead.

The police department said in a press release that an unidentified person was shot early Saturday morning during an altercation outside the hospital's front entrance. Police said there was no indication the person was an employee, patient or patient family member.

Police Chief John Dailey says one officer was treated for a minor injury.

However, police said there was no ongoing threat because of the shooting. Few other details were released because of the ongoing investigation.

Hospital services have not been interrupted, though the main entrance to the hospital has been closed. For now, visitors will be routed to another entrance.
