MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – One person is dead and two others wounded following a shooting in the usually quiet community near a South Carolina coastal city.
Several media outlets reported Thursday that the shooting occurred in Mount Pleasant in an apartment on the main road to Sullivans Island.
A Mount Pleasant police spokesman said a woman was found dead in the apartment shortly after noon. Another victim was found wounded in the apartment while a third victim was found wounded outside a short distance away.
Several area schools were locked down.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported that police searched a vehicle a few blocks away from the shooting and took a man into custody for traffic violations. It's not known if the arrest was related to the shootings.
