A Wisconsin man was charged with attending real estate open houses to steal women's underwear, then claiming to police that he was driving to the thefts because he missed his ex-wife.
Robert Remiker, 58, was found with a plastic bag containing eight pairs of women's underwear and printouts of open house listings found on the Internet, Wauwatosanow.com reported.
Police later found about 50 more pairs at the home where he lived with his parents.
"He was relentlessly visiting open houses and calling Realtors asking for private showings," Scott Busch, vice president of operations with the Wauwatosa-based Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors, told Wauwatosanow.com.
Busch said thefts are not uncommon at open houses, but they usually lean toward higher-priced items, like electronics and jewelry or prescription drugs.
Remiker was charged with three misdemeanor counts of theft.
