A leak in Dubai Mall's massive aquarium Thursday led to shoppers being evacuated from the center and boutiques closed around the major attraction in the once booming Gulf emirate, witnesses said.
The perimeter of the aquarium, said to be the largest in the world and which holds a number of different fish including sharks, was cordoned off and shops around it closed, witnesses said.
There was no immediate indication of the scope of the leak.
Dubai Mall, which contains a whopping 1,200 stores, is the largest mall in the Middle East. It is located at the foot of Burj Khalifa, the tallest tower in the world.
