Police charged an Opelika woman already in jail on drug accusations with criminal solicitation to commit murder Tuesday.

Opelika Police Capt. Alan Elkins told the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, in Columbus, Ga. that authorities charged 42-year-old Marsha Kay Hardy with the new offense at the Lee County Jail.

He says police learned she contacted someone of the outside of jail in an attempt to have two people killed that she believed were responsible for her current incarceration.

Police originally arrested Hardy on Dec. 28 and charged her with first-degree unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance.
