UPPER MARLBORO, Md. – Prosecutors say one of two men charged with causing a car crash that killed eight people watching an illegal drag race on a suburban road has pleaded guilty to eight counts of vehicular manslaughter.
Darren Bullock, 21, of Waldorf entered the plea Friday in Prince George's County Circuit Court. Prosecutors say he faces 30 years, with all but 15 years suspended, in prison. He will be sentenced March 1.
Authorities say Bullock accidentally plowed into a group of street racing fans who had gathered Feb. 16, 2008, on an isolated stretch of Route 210 in Accokeek while he and Tavon Taylor were racing each other in early morning darkness.
Taylor's trial is set to begin Monday. He is also charged with eight counts of vehicular manslaughter.
