Now some fresh pickings from the Political Grapevine:
Up for Debate
During that Massachusetts Senate debate we told you about earlier, moderator David Gergen asked the candidates different questions.
To Republican Scott Brown, Gergen asked, "Would your preference be to see Roe v. Wade overturned, is that your preference? ... Do you support Roe v. Wade?"
And his follow-up question to Brown: "Do you believe that climate — global warming — is caused by man-made activities — or are you skeptical?"
To Democrat Martha Coakley, Gergen asked: "I wonder — looking back — whether you think it was the right decision to insist on three people at a debate?" She answered yes, and expanded on why.
And his second question to Coakley? "As you look back on the campaign — do you have any second thoughts about the way the campaigns unfolded?" Her answer: "Absolutely not."
Read the Fine Print
Coakley was forced to fix an error in that attack ad you heard about in Molly Line's reporting. The fine print at the end of the video said the advertisement was "paid for by Massachusettes (sic) Democratic Party" and approved by Coakley herself. But it seems it wasn't approved by spell check.
Massachusetts was misspelled, with an added "e" at the end. The ad was pulled from her YouTube Web site and fixed.
On His Soapbox
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez thinks there is too much capitalism on television, so he is asking producers to make socialist soap operas.
The French Press Agency reports Chavez says he got the idea after watching socialist soaps in Cuba. He is also pushing movies with similar themes, saying capitalist films are poison that push children into crime.
