Another Promising Poll for Conservatives

A Year to Forget

Things may have looked up for liberals at the start of 2009, but it turns out this past year marked the resurgence of conservatism right here in America.

A brand-new Gallup Poll puts conservatives as the number one ideological group of 2009, with 40 percent of those polled identified themselves as conservatives. Compare that to the 36 percent who say that they are moderates, while only 21 percent are brave enough to admit that they're radical, left-wing, socialist liberals.

Thanks to the Anointed One, Prince Harry and the San Francisco Speaker, I think that's a trend that's likely to continue in 2010.

Budget Bad Boy

Move over Tiger Woods and make room for the president's budget director Peter Orszag.

The New York Post revealed that Orszag has a "secret love child" with his former girlfriend, a woman name Claire Milonas. Orszag and Milonas abruptly ended their relationship in the spring of 2009, and a source close to the couple told The Post, "Claire told Peter that she was pregnant and he said he'd marry her — and then something went wrong."

Apparently that "something" was that Orszag was introduced to ABC News reporter Brianna Golodryga at the White House Correspondents Dinner in May of 2009. Since that time the two have been dating and are now, in fact, engaged.

Orszag's friends are pushing back on the story that he left his pregnant girlfriend for the ABC News reporter, and said that there are no hard feelings. They also claim that Orszag and Milonas were already separated by the time that he met Golodryga.

Now that's hard to believe considering The Post uncovered Orszag's ex-girlfriend's baby registry. It included this book: "When Things Fall Apart: Hard Advice for Difficult Times."

Very classy, Mr. Orszag. President Obama must be so proud to have you in his Cabinet.

Perjury = Payout

There will soon be one less corrupt politician in the city of Baltimore, Maryland.

As part of a plea deal, Mayor Sheila Dixon will resign effective February 4. Her departure comes after she pleaded guilty to perjury on Wednesday for not disclosing thousands of dollars in gifts that she received from an ex-boyfriend. That boyfriend later received plum contract deals from the city.

You may also recall that just last month Dixon was convicted of embezzling gift cards that were donated to the city intended for needy families.

But even after all of this, Dixon refuses to apologize for her crimes. And get this: The Baltimore Sun reports that she will likely be able to keep her robust $83,000 pension.

Pretty outrageous. The Baltimore taxpayers don't owe Sheila Dixon another dime.

Prison Perks

The perks of being a criminal are also growing in the state of Washington, thanks to a ruling by the ultra-liberal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. Incarcerated felons — yes, felons — may soon be able to vote.

In a 2-1 ruling, the court struck down a Washington state law prohibiting felons from voting. They argue that the lawsuit suppresses the voting rights of minorities because minorities make up a larger percentage of the prison population than whites.

The Washington state attorney general is now considering his next move. We'll be sure to keep an eye on this story in the weeks and months ahead.
