A 75-year-old Linden man is alive today because of the actions of his 11-year-old granddaughter, who performed CPR on him.

Deputy Fire Chief John Traub says Frank Fulop stopped breathing after falling backward down five steps in his home Sunday afternoon.

When Fulop's wife was unable to reach down to help her husband, the granddaughter stepped in and performed CPR until emergency responders arrived.

Fulop was in stable condition Sunday night at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
