Published January 14, 2015

Associated Press

Glendale police say a woman has died after she was shot twice early Monday.

The shooting occurred in north Glendale near 75th Avenue and Deer Valley Road.

Glendale police spokeswoman Officer Karen Gerardo said police are still continuing to work on a positive identification of the victim. Gerardo said the victim was not carrying any identification.

Gerardo said residents called police at 5:45 a.m. to report gunshots in the area.

A resident found the victim in the roadway with two gunshot wounds to the upper body.

She was transported to John C. Lincoln Hospital where she later died.

The shooting occurred in a normally quiet, residential area frequented by joggers and people out walking their dogs early in the morning.

Police are asking anyone who may have heard or seen anything to call them.
