BUENA PARK, Calif. – Authorities say an 18-month-old girl has died at an Orange County hospital, hours after her mother left her briefly unattended in a full bathtub.
Buena Park Police Sgt. Bill Kohanek says the mother was bathing the child Friday evening when she became distracted and left the room.
The infant was discovered submerged in water.
Paramedics took the baby to a hospital, where she was placed on life support. She was pronounced dead early Saturday.
Kohanek says the parents are distraught. He says there is no suspicion of foul play but an autopsy will be performed.
