Dozens of South Philadelphia residents complained about a strong, gas-like smell in the area on Tuesday morning, MyFoxPhilly.com reported.
MyFoxPhilly.com spoke with representatives at Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) who said they don't believe the company is responsible for the smell.
Crews are investigating the claims, but have not said whether there has been a gas leak. PGW said they received 100 calls over a 1-hour period reporting the smell, according to MyFoxPhilly.com.
Officials said the mist in the air might be spreading the odor, MyFoxPhilly.com reported.
