The driver of a car that ran a red light in Sonoma County and crashed into a minivan, killing a family of four, has died.

The California Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Steven Culbertson of Lakeport died Sunday after he was taken off life support at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

CHP spokesman Jonathan Sloat says Culbertson hit a car that was stopped at the intersection of Highway 37 and Lakeville Highway on Saturday night. He then crashed into the minivan carrying Johnathan Maloney, his wife Susan and their young children, five-year-old Grace and eight-year-old Aiden.

Family friends say they were returning home from a vacation on Maui to have a belated Thanksgiving Day dinner with Johnathan Maloney's 19-year-old daughter.

Authorities say drugs and alcohol don't appear to be a factor in the crash.
