Two 3rd grade boys and a 5th grader have been arrested on charges they brought a box cutter and a knife to a Bronx school.

The boys, ages 8, 9 and 11, were arrested Wednesday on charges of criminal possession of a weapon. They were escorted to the police van by the principal of the P.S. 2.

School officials say they were alerted to the weapons by other students. School safety officers arrested the children. The unarmed officers are stationed at schools but under the control of the NYPD.

The boys names weren't released. Their parents were notified. School activity was not interrupted.
