BRASILIA, Brazil – Brazil is extraditing a self-proclaimed rabbi to Israel to face charges of abusing children.
Brazil's National Justice Minister Romeu Tuma says that Elior Noam Hen will be flown from Sao Paulo to Israel Tuesday night.
He is offering no other details for security reasons.
Hen and a few followers are accused of burning and cutting toddlers as part of a purification ritual in the West Bank settlement of Beitar Illit in February and March 2008.
Brazilian police arrested Hen in Sao Paulo in June 2008 after a 45-day manhunt.
Hen fought extradition, but Brazil's Supreme Court ruled in May he should be sent to Israel. An appeal to the top court was rejected last month.
