Sky News reports Lockerbie Bomber Abdelbaset al-Megrahi has died, while his British lawyer disputes the claim.

"It's absolutely untrue," said al-Megrahi's lawyer Tony Kelly, according to Reuters. "He's definitely not dead."

Kelly would not comment further on his client's health, other than to say: "He is alive and breathing," Reuters reported.

The British Foreign Ministry said it could not confirm the Sky report.

Kelly criticized the network and demanded an apology. Kelly, however, refused to say exactly when he had last spoken to al-Megrahi or how he knew.

Al-Megrahi is the only man convicted in the 1988 bombing of the Pan Am flight over Scotland that killed 270 people. In August he was freed from a Scottish prison on compassionate leave and returned to Libya.
