LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A former Kentucky high school football coach acquitted in the death of a player who collapsed during practice will likely return to his teaching job soon.
A letter sent to 37-year-old David Jason Stinson says he also is free to apply for coaching positions.
Jefferson County Public Schools spokeswoman Lauren Roberts said Monday that Stinson can resume teaching at Pleasure Ridge Park High School on Thursday. Stinson had been working in a non-teaching position since January.
Last week, a jury found Stinson not guilty of reckless homicide and wanton endangerment. The charges stemmed from the collapse and death of 15-year-old offensive lineman Max Gilpin in August 2008.
A message left for Stinson's attorneys was not immediately returned Monday.
